Since the late 1950's, the City of Lake Mills has enjoyed a great deal of success in attracting new business and industry. The Lake Mills Chamber Development Corporation (LMCDC) spearheads the efforts in the city. Together with the Lake Mills City Council, they work closely with industries to access available state incentives. This leadership also works to provide a good business environment for the industry's profitability.

Lake Mills is strategically located nearly midway between Des Moines and Minneapolis-St. Paul. Interstate 35 is just 10 miles east of the city and Interstate 90 is just 18 miles north of Lake Mills.
